AASTMT participation in the Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism meetings:

December 12, 2024 — AASTMT delegation attended Arab Ministerial Council for Tourism meetings where sustainable tourism and regional collaboration were discussed. Institutional engagement with policy-level tourism actors supports outreach and capacity-building for sustainable tourism.

Transforming Hospitality: Sustainable Waste Management Training in Alexandria:

AASTMT co-organized hands-on training workshops for hotel and hospitality personnel (housekeeping, kitchen, management) on sustainable waste management and segregation. This is an educational outreach initiative that improves environmental stewardship in the tourism and hospitality sector. The training was publicly announced and documented by AASTMT partners and participants (BlackForest Solutions GmbH + AASTMT posts).

CEDARE Welcomes AASTMT Students for an Educational Visit on Sustainable Development and Environmental Initiatives:

The Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) hosted a delegation of students and faculty members from AASTMT’s Faculty of Management and Technology for an educational visit focused on sustainable development, climate action, and land-based environmental initiatives. This outreach visit aimed to expand students’ understanding of sustainable resource management, biodiversity protection, eco-tourism, and sustainable land use, while showcasing CEDARE’s impactful regional work in environmental sustainability and sustainable development.

AASTMT Workshop on “Waste Management in Alexandria” (27 August 2024):

The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) organized a workshop on “Waste Management in Alexandria” in cooperation with the Alexandria Governorate, Nahdet Misr Company, and the German Retech Foundation, under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Environment and the Waste Management Regulatory Agency.. Through presentations and open discussions, participants highlighted modern techniques for reducing, reusing, and recycling waste, as well as integrating circular economy models to minimize environmental degradation in tourist and residential areas. The event also featured insights from Dr. Abdullah Nassour, Director of the TOMALI Project (Tourism and Marine Litter Initiative), linking the workshop to sustainable tourism waste solutions at the national level.

Mashreq Tourism Incubator — training & mentorship (AASTMT Entrepreneurship / Incubator) 2024:

Activities and cohorts (multiple training & mentorship sessions across Cairo & Aswan in 2024). Incubator runs tourism-focused training, mentoring and startup support (capacity building for sustainable tourism practices, local outreach).

International workshop — “Green Environment and Green Tourism” (World Environment Day activities):

June 2024 — Workshop focused on the role of green tourism in protecting the environment and promoting sustainability (educational/outreach content). Directly addresses green tourism, links tourism with environment protection (education/outreach). AASTMT, through collaborations with the German University of Rostock (TouMaLi Project), Life Makers Foundation (UniGreen Project), and partners from Cyprus and Greece (Green Med Project).

Professional Diploma in Tourism Logistics Management:

This diploma intends to build a better level of knowledge in tourism logistics management it provides a comprehensive approach on the management of the logistics operations in tourism sector.

AASTMT launched its B.Sc program for Hotels and Tourism in Management to address a shortage in Egyptian and Arab markets by combining hotel management practices with educational courses.

The Department of Hotels and Tourism held a successful project activation day on the university's main campus, showcasing Egypt's rich civilizations to students, faculty, and guests.

Cooperation Agreement the Arab Tourism Organization and AASTMT, Entrepreneurship Center:

AASTMT (Entrepreneurship Center) have partnered to support digital tourism and innovation in the Arab tourism sector. This initiative, supported by the "assistance for trade initiative for Arab countries" iftias, aims to create job opportunities and promote innovation in the region, based on the success of the "Mashreq tourism" incubator.

Agreement between AASTMT and Afro- Asian Union for sustainable development:

AASTMT signed MoU with Strategic women and youth institute Febraury, 2022, the agreement state to have joint programs that support suitable development and gender equality in leadership. The collaboration extended to include Seminars, workshops and case studies. For the next year of such collaboration, AASTMT maintains sustainable activities with Strategic women and youth to support its roadmap for achieving SDGs.

International Tou Mali conference 2022 at AASTMT Abu Kir, Alexandria:

AASTMT announces the beginning of the international Tou Mali conference 2022 that entitled ‘’contribution sound waste management systems to sustainable tourism and the protection of marine ecosystem. To develop and implement sustainable waste management strategies in the tourism sector—particularly in coastal and marine areas—by reducing plastic pollution, promoting circular economy models, and enhancing environmental awareness in tourist destinations.
